Professor Jimmy Lee joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1992 and is now a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In addition to being an Associate Dean of Students at the New Asia College, he is the Chair of the University’s Senate Committee on Student Discipline. Professor Lee believes that education is all about nurturing good human beings. ‘Students first’ has been his guiding principle in his twenty five years of teaching.
Teaching imparts knowledge which can change over time, but education impresses upon learners values that will last. The University Education Award will make Professor Lee more humble. The most honourable moment for a true educator shall be a visit and a small thank you in passing by a student who graduated over thirty years ago. Professor Lee is pleased that he has a number of such good teachers to visit and thank.
We learn to educate, and educate to also learn. Professor Lee is endeavoring every moment to becoming an educator one day.
