The CS&E Department at CUHK Achieves the “Best” Research Performance Among All CS (or CSE) Departments in Hong Kong Universities

The University Grants Committee (UGC) has recently announced the results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2006. Among all the Computer Science (or Computer Science & Engineering) Departments in Hong Kong institutions, we achieved the “best performance” in the Computer Science /IT Panel. This result reflects not only our excellent performance, but also our commitment to push forward the frontier of computer science and engineering.

The Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) is part of the UGC’s performance-based funding assessment process. It aims to measure the output and quality of research of the UGC-funded institutions by cost centre as one of the key factors for allocating the research portions of the institutional recurrent grant in a publicly accountable way.
