Jianping Shi Won the 2013 Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Award

Congratulations to Jianping Shi, a PhD student supervised by Prof. JIA Jiaya Leo, won the 2013 Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Award.

This year, over 100 distinguished Ph.D. candidates from 45 leading research universities/institutions were nominated for fellowships. Applicants included candidates from the China mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. Each candidate’s credentials, publications, and research projects were thoroughly evaluated by a review committee and only 10 students have been awarded fellowships.? Each winner has the opportunity to complete an internship, during which they participate in hands-on, advanced research at Microsoft Research Asia in Beijing, China.The Microsoft Research Asia Fellowship Program aims to empower and encourage PhD students in the Asia-Pacific region to realize their potential in computer science-related research. They recognize outstanding PhD students majoring in computer science, electrical engineering, information science, and applied mathematics.
