Scope & Topics

Handbook of Bio- and Neuroinformatics” (HBBNI) will have nine parts, each covering a particular area of informatics, bioinformatics and neuroinformatics. Each part will contain a few chapters written by individual authors. The target audience for the Handbook are academics, students, scientists in industry and government research institutions, and libraries.

Part C of HBBNI ``Machine learning methods for information processing” aims to provide a comprehensive survey and deliver thorough research results in applying machine learning methods for information processing, especially bio-informatics. The topics of interests of this part include, but not limited to, the followings:

  • Review of machine learning methodologies for bioinformatics
  • Case-based reasoning for bioinformatics
  • Rule based and fuzzy logic systems for bioinformatics
  • Artificial neural networks and neuro-fuzzy systems.
  • Evolutionary computation for bioinformatics
  • Statistical kernel methods for bioinformatics methods
  • Analysis of large-scale biological networks using machine learning
