Prof. Michael R. Lyu Elected to the Inaugural Class of the ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is happy toannounce that Professor Michael Rung-Tsong Lyu has been selected tothe inaugural class of the ACM SIGSOFT Software Engineering Academy.The Academy and its inaugural class were introduced at the FSE 2026conference in Montreal as part of the Fifty Years of ACM SIGSOFTcelebrations in July 2026. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)’s Special Interest Groupon Software Engineering (SIGSOFT) is the foremost global organizationin software engineering.  It provides a forum for computingprofessionals from industry, government, and academia to define thefield’s research agenda, establish professional standards, and drivetechnological innovation. As a standing body of honor founded by ACMSIGSOFT, the Academy recognizes those whose cumulative work hasdefined the foundations of software engineering and its growth. This latest accolade recognizes Professor Lyu’s internationalleadership, who is also a Fellow of the ACM, IEEE, and AAAS. Hisrenowned research reputation and status set an academic role model forour students and faculty to follow.
