Y.S. Moon obtained his Honors Degree in Computer Science at the University of Manitoba in 1973. He spent the next five years at the University of Toronto¡¦s Department of Computer Science for his M Sc and Ph D degrees. In 1978, he started his career at the Department of Computer Science of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Lecturer.

He continues to serve the Chinese University of Hong Kong since then. Synchronous with the development of this department, Dr. Moon had participated in numerous administrative and teaching duties, including curriculum development, laboratory establishment and admission exercises. He had supervised numerous final year projects, theses and is most delighted to see and hear the outstanding performance of the students.

Dr. Moon maintains close links with the computing industry and electronics industry. Besides competitive research grants, he also receives industry supports in the form of grants and equipment's. He is responsible for the Embedded System Laboratory currently.

Dr. Moon has published more than 180 research papers in different areas of computer science, including Chinese Computing, Computer Education, AI, Multimedia Processing and Computer Engineering.
