Accessing ORACLE

1. Use ssh to connect to gw.cse.cuhk.edu.hk. After successful log-in, type "ssh sparc1" and type your password again.

    For non-CSE students, your account and password are the same as your ORACLE account, as shown in the above table.
    For CSE students, use your department account names.

2. Add the following line in ~/.cshrc:
       source /usr/local/oracle8i/setup

3. Start ORACLE:
    sqlplus db###@db11 
                \\Here, db### is your username (see the above table). You will then need to input your Oracle password.

4. In ORACLE, change your password with the command:
    password

Note that ORACLE passwords are not case sensitive and can contain only alphanumeric characters and underscore (_), dollar sign ($), and pound sign (#).
