Reading of the reference book is not required. Students that are willing to do so may read:

Note that the book's definition of matrix inverse, strictly speaking, is wrong. Specifically, you should not define inverse by requiring directly A (A^{-1}) = I and (A^{-1})A = I. Please follow the definition in the lecture notes instead.
