Biography

• Sinno Jialin Pan is a Professor and Global STEM Scholar with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in Hong Kong, and the Director of the JC STEM Lab of Machine Learning and Symbolic Reasoning. He is an IEEE Fellow (Class of 2025).
  Prof. Pan obtained his B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Applied Mathematics from Sun Yat-Sen University in 2003 and 2005, respectively, and his Ph.D. in computer science from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in 2011. He was a scientist in the Data Analytics Department at Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore from 2010 to 2014. Subsequently, he joined to the School of Computer Science and Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore as a Nanyang Assistant Professor. He later held the esteemed position of Provost's Chair Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at NTU before joining CUHK in 2022. He was named to the list of "AI 10 to Watch" by the IEEE Intelligent Systems magazine in 2018. He also serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (TPAMI), Artificial Intelligence (AIJ), and ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology (TIST).
