He received his B.Sc. (Computer Science) from the National University of Singapore in 1985 and his Ph.D. (Computer Science) from Indiana University in 1992.
He has served as the Department Chairman from 2014 to 2017 and as the Head of Graduate Division from 2005 to 2008 and then again from 2011 to 2016.
Heng’s research interests include AI/XR for medical and scientific applications, surgical simulation, visualization and human computer interaction.
