Pheng Ann Heng
Dr. Heng received his B.Sc. (Computer Science) from the National University of Singapore in 1985. He received his M.Sc. (Computer Science), M. Arts (Applied Mathematics) and Ph.D. (Computer Science) all from the Indiana University in 1987, 1988, and 1992 respectively.

He is a professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was an Associate (Research Staff) at NUS-JHU Center for Information-enhanced Medicine during 1992-1995. He then joined CUHK as an Assistant Professor in 1995 and became a Full Professor in 2002. He has been appointed by China Ministry of Education as a Cheung Kong Scholar Chair Professor in 2007.

He has formerly served as Department Chairman (2014-2017) and as Head of Graduate Division (2005-2008 and 2011-2016). He has served as the Director of Virtual Reality, Visualization, and Imaging Research Center at CUHK since 1999 and the Director of Research Center for Cognition and Interaction Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2006.

Dr. Heng’s research interests include AI/AR/VR for medical applications, surgical simulation, visualization, computer graphics and human-computer interaction. He has published over 550 publications in these areas with 28000+ Google citations. He has graduated over 45 Ph.D. students, many of whom have taken positions at leading universities or research labs in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
