What is Concordia?/b>?


Concordia is a product of Mitsubishi Electric Information Technology Center America. Concordia is a software framework for developing, running and administering mobile agents. Concordia mobile agents are Java programs which travel in the network to perform their function.

Concordia is the next generation middleware infrastructure for developing distributed applications
. Concordia makes distributed application programming easy and greatly reduces development time.

Concordia provides all the basic functionality of a mobile agent system:

In addition Concordia provides the following features which help to set it apart from other mobile agent systems:

  • Concordia agents adapt dynamically
    • Concordia agents can change their travel and execution plans dynamically based on communication with other Concordia agents.
  • Concordia agents are naturally heterogeneous.
    • Concordia agents are platform and transport-layer independent
  • Concordia agents are are robust and fault-tolerant
    • An advantage over wireless or unreliable
  • Concordia agents can easily integrate with legacy applications.
    • Application gateways provide a bridge to legacy applications.
  • Concordia provides comprehensive security support.
    • Agents are protected in transmission from one host to another via encryption.
    • Agents can only access server resources that have been authorized by the systems administrator.
