About this course
This course is on empirical studies in software engineering. It will cover:
- What we currently know about programmers, based on empirical evidence
- How to study programmers
- How to write up results of empiricial SE work
This course will be held in several parts:
- Weeks 1,2: Study Methodology (taught by Elisa)
- Weeks 3-12: Presentations by students on reading-list papers (number of presentations/student is determined by final class size)
During this time, students will be working on their own empirical studies. Each class will involve students reporting their progress so far, and raising any concerns they have about their progress. We will all collaborate to help each student with each project.
- Weeks 12-14: Presentations by students on the results of their empirical studies project.
