Link Analyses and Ranking Algorithms for Social Networks on the Web

The development of social networks on the web has been phenomenal in recent years. Communities are being formed on the web for knowledge dissemination, personalization, advertising, and other interesting applications. The project aims to investigate ways these social networks are being developed through analysing their link through various medium of communication such as email, blogs, SMS, websites, reviewing systems, etc. Furthermore, we also study the design and development of various ranking algorithm for searching information in these communities. The result will benefit applications in web intelligence such as collaborative filtering and recommendation systems, web mining and data engineering, categorization and ranking, etc.
