On-going Research Projects

Information-enhanced Virtual Operative Neurosurgical Anatomy
(P. A. Heng, A. T. Ahuja, Y. C. Goh, W. S. Poon and T. W. Yew)

One of the main objectives of this proposed research is to develop state-of-the-art virtual environment that facilitates interactive photo-realistic operative neurosurgical anatomy learning based on ultra-high resolution human head datasets of cross-section color digital images.

Due to the complexity and flexibility of the human brain structures, it is still a great challenge to build a virtual neurosurgical simulator that provide real-time dexterous feedbacks coupled with realistic rendering and physically based deformation. The other objective of this project is to develop a powerful virtual neurosurgical simulator to strengthen and compensate existing neurosurgical training.
