Image-based Touring of Virtual Harbour Parks

The Harbour parks in Hong Kong have played an important role in promoting the ecological health and public recreation in our surrounding natures. This project will utilize both graphics- and image-based techniques for real-time interactive navigation of virtual harbour parks on Internet. The system will allow making animated navigation from a simple scene model so touring into the picture is possible. The system will integrate panoramic images with branching mechanism to compose a virtual touring environment. The virtual tour system includes a software-based real-time image processing engine for navigating in the virtual space and an authoring environment for creating VR movies.
