Electric-Mechanical Coupled Cardiac Functional Analysis (P. A. Heng, C. M. Yu and W. M. Lam)
The simulation of the heart has received a growing attention due to the importance of cardiovascular diseases in the world and the complexity of the cardiac function. Recent advances in various imaging modalities provide useful information about the heart’s anatomy and function. To integrate multiple clinical signals and to facilitate a more optimal use of tagged MRI, CT and echocardiography data, we propose to provide an electro-mechanical coupled total cardiac function analysis scheme based on a unified cardiac ventricle and valve model. We will exploit advanced techniques in 4D multi-scale cardiac motion reconstruction, cardiac electrophysiological activity analysis, cardiac excitation-contraction triggering process via energy-based coupling scheme, as well as electromechanical functional analysis with the asynchronous process.
