Differentiated Services and Application to the Internet Traffic Management (John C.S. Lui)
The goals of this project are: 1) Examine the proper way to provide the DiffServ model on the Internet. For example, should we provide ``absolute'' performance guarantee (e.g., tight end-to-end delay bounds) to different traffic aggregates? 2) Pricing and optimization among the ISP and users. We use various theories (e.g., game theoretic and optimization theories, traffic engineering and stochastic optimization) as well as system implementation (e.g., building routers and Web servers with DiffServ support) so as to gain some understanding to this fundamental problem.
