Biometric Authentication: from Security to Daily Life
(Y. S. Moon)

We perform an extensive research on the optimization and personalization of different biometric techniques for multiple mobile embedded systems with different configurations to be used in daily life applications. Our major goals include:

  1. Perform extensive research on the optimization and personalization of different biometric techniques including fingerprint, face and speaker verification systems. The major challenge for this part is to make full use of various architecture characteristics of different embedded processors to accomplish the optimization.
  2. Investigate daily life applications. Identify typical daily life scenarios in which biometric authentication can be applied.
  3. Document our work in research papers so that they can serve the learn-by-example paradigm. Software will also be created in the form of libraries to benefit future research and development efforts.
