Academic Appointments
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering has several faculty positions open at the assistant,
associate, full or visiting professor level for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Department currently
has around 30 faculty members from leading universities and research institutions. Significant growth
is expected in coming years. A profile of the Department can be found at

Applicants should have (i) a relevant PhD degree, (ii) strong commitment to excellence in research
and teaching, and (iii) outstanding accomplishments and research potential. Those with experience in
the following areas are particularly welcome:
- Theoretical Computer Science
- Computer and Network Security.
Highly exceptional candidates in bioinformatics; operating systems; distributed systems; programming
languages and compilers; data mining; software engineering; and computer architectures will also be
considered.
Initial appointments will normally be made on a fixed term basis for up to three years with the
prospect of longer-term or tenured appointment subject to demonstrated performance. Visiting
appointments for a shorter duration will also be considered.
Salaries are highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University
offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package for full time appointments including medical care; a
contract-end gratuity for an appointment of two years or longer; and housing benefits for eligible

Research Assistant Position Available
We are looking for a self-motivated and technically sound Research
Assistant to work on a project involving text processing and
information retrieval applications with databases.
Responsibility:
- Maintain a course management and text processing system
- Design and develop more advanced features in the system
- May need to meet users for demonstration and problem solving
Requirements:
- Degree and Advanced Degree holder in Computer Science/Information Technology or related discipline
- Analytical, creative, organizational, and communication skills required
- Proficiency in Java, C, Python, SQL, HTML, and other related languages preferred
- Previous programming and database system analyst/administrator experience helpful
- Knowledge in text processing, information retrieval, and databases preferred
- Ability to work independently and also in a team environment
- Be able to handle multiple tasks, including dealing with system users
- Immediate availability is preferred
This is a contract position for one year with the possibility of renewal.
