"Virtual Acupuncture" won the "Winner Award" in Asia Pacific Information and
Communication Technology Awards 2005 in Thailand
The project "Virtual Acupuncture" represented Hong Kong in the Asia
Pacific Information and Communication Technology Awards (APICTA) and
won the "Winner Award" in the category of Research and Development.
The project is developed by Prof. Heng Pheng Ann and his research
team members, Mr. Xie Yongming (M.Phil. Student), Mr. Wang Guangyu
(Ph.D. Student) and Ms. Wang Xinghe (Research Assistant).
The award was conferred at the APICTA 2005 Award Presentation Gala
Dinner in Thailand on 19th February 2006. The annual event aims to
promote innovation and creativity in the Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT). Entries from 16 member economies: China, Korea,
Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar, Pakistan, India,
Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Australia and Malaysia,
competed for the awards in different categories.
Prior to the APICTA 2005, "Virtual Acupuncture" also received the First
Award in the 9th Challenge Cup held at Fudan University, Shanghai and the
Gold Award in the 7th IT Excellence Awards organized by the Hong Kong
Computer Society.
