Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Invention of the LMS Algorithm

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the invention of the least mean squares (LMS) algorithm by Drs. Bernard Widrow and Ted Hoff. A special panel session will be held to celebrate 50 years of the LMS algorithm at the 2009 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN). The special panel session will provide conference attendees a unique and exciting opportunity to interact with the inventors of the algorithm, and to hear comprehensive reflections on the LMS algorithm from a distinguished panel including Dr., The panel will discuss the historical value of the algorithm especially its applications in the adaptive signal process and telecommunication industry such as adaptive equalization and echo cancellation. The panelists will also make themselves available to answer questions and providing behind the scenes stories on this important invention. Also at IJCNN 2009, there will be exhibits of photographs and memorabilia related to LMS from the 1960's.
