Connect the TuneTalk to the bottom of the iPod. The “Record” function will be launched.
From the iPod menu, select “Extra→Voice Memos→Quality”. Toggle to “Low quality”(22.05kHz, mono) by pressing the “Select” button.
Press “Play/Pause” or press the “Select” button to begin recording.(note: please wait a few seconds before speaking).
To pause recording, press “Play/Pause” again or highlight “Pause” and then press the “Select” button on the iPod.
To end a recording, either press the “Menu” button or highlight the “Stop and Save” option, and then press the “Select” button. This saves your recording and lists by date and time recorded.
We have to use the iPod for use as an external disk drive. To do this, connect it to the computer with which you normally sync it and wait for iTunes to start up. Then right-click your iPod in the left-hand menu pane and select iPod Options. You will start out in the iPod/Music section, which is right where you want to be. Near the bottom of the screen, check the Enable Disk Use box if it isn't already checked.
Connect the iPod to the computer to which you are trying to copy the music. If iTunes comes up, ignore it without clicking anything–we're going to use Windows itself to copy the music.
Open the Start menu at the lower left of the screen and select My Computer. After your iPod has had enough time to connect to the PC, you'll see it available in the My Computer folder; in Windows XP Media Center, it will show up under Devices with Removable Storage.
Double-click the iPod to open it up as a folder.
In the iPod folder, go to Tools > Folder Options and click the View tab. You will see a bunch of advanced settings for how Windows displays file information. In the Hidden files and folders section, select “Show hidden files and folders,” then click OK.
In the iPod folder, you will now see a few new, half-grayed-out folders. Double-click the one called iPod_Control. Then double-click the Music folder. Copy and paste or drag the files into a folder on your computer. But there's a better way–keep reading.
Connect the iPod into the computer and launch iTunes.
In iPod → Music, enable “Manually manage songs and playlists.
Close the preferences window and go back to the main iTunes window. You should still be looking at all the songs that are on your iPod. To copy them onto your computer, select all the songs by using Edit –> Select All then drag them all onto the “Library” entry in the left column.
Give it a few minutes to copy everything and you should be set to go with a restored iTunes library.
Once that's all copied over, go back to the iTunes preferences and re-enable the autosync feature if you want.
